Bio
Amanda Kowalski is a young emerging artist from Chicago, IL where she currently resides. She grew up just on the edge of the city with her parents, brother, dogs and multiple other pets. Amanda always has had an intuition for the arts and expanded her knowledge of the arts early on in high school. She took classes at the School Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College until leaving to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for her bachelor’s degree.
At the University of Illinois she studied photography as her main discipline. Looking for a challenge, she took up second degree, which was at first metals and evolved into sculpture. Sculpture became her second love and began incorporation three-dimensional elements and installation into her work. A year before graduating Amanda found her next love, her dog Elvis. Elvis became her muse and was soon the focal point of her body of work at the time. Unable to graduate in four years with both degrees, Amanda graduated in 2008 with her Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in Photography.
Amanda loves to watch movies and television as a means of inspiration. She also likes to read magazines in her spare time, surf the web and read a good book. She loves to travel and see new sights. In the past she has explored Australia, New Zealand and France and hope to see more in the future while doing what she loves, taking pictures.
